These are the most formal for our special events and activities. These uniforms provide a sense of belonging and show the community who we are when we are out doing service projects. Class A's are used for Pack meetings (where we give out awards and have a flag ceremony), Scouting for Food, service projects, and other special events. These uniforms include button down shirt, neckerchief, slide and belt. These can be purchased online, at the local Scout Shop (991 Postal Road, Allentown, PA 18109 - near the airport), or used through online or in-person vendors (A Scout is thrifty!). We recommend sizing up to get the most out of your uniform!
The blue (K-4th grade) or khaki (4-5th grade) button down shirt (The transition to the khaki shirt should be whenever they grow out of their blue shirt as Webelos or as they prepare to join the Troop in their AOL year). Patches 1, 3, 4, and 5 should be purchased with your uniform. We generally do not use patch 2 (den numerals). Patch 6 is their rank once they have earned it later in the year. There are special event patches for events and activities we complete throughout the year that will hang from the right pocket button. Uniform pants are optional, generally scouts wear whatever is comfortable for them.
Rank patches are placed on the left chest pocket in the order they earn their rank as shown. The plastic rank badge holder is an inexpensive way to not have to sew each of these patches on individually. (available at the Scout Shop).
Segment patches are given for summer events and special pack activities. They are iron on and can be placed in a semi-circle around the logo on the back of your neckerchief (if you choose to do so). It is a great way to display all of your adventures for the year!
Special patches are given out for larger pack & council events (Pinewood Derby, Scouting for Food, summer camp, etc). These generally come with a loop and can be worn on the right pocket button of the uniform.
Generally the button can only hold one patch at a time, so the Scouts should choose their favorite or most recent patch to display. Extra patches can be stored/displayed at home in many different ways. They can be sewn onto vests/hoodies/blankets. Or put all of the loops onto a large carabiner and clip to their backpack! The ideas are limitless and the internet is a great place to search for ideas!
These "uniforms" are generally Scout related t-shirts and are for other activities including den meetings, hikes, and anytime we may get a little messy! You can make your own, purchase rank specific ones from the Scout Shop or purchase Pack specific ones from the Pack.
We have tie-dye adult and youth t-shirts available for purchase and are taking orders for adult and youth tees, long sleeves and hoodies. Please see the information board at any of the Pack meetings or send me an email (bsapack71@gmail.com).
The Pack purchases each ranks book for them each year as part of their pack dues and fundraising efforts. You will be provided a book shortly after your registration. Please bring your book to all Den Meetings.
