RULES:
This race is for adults, den leaders and siblings to build there own car to race on our Pinewood Derby track. We will run this race upon completion of all Scout/Den races.
You don’t have to be a Scout (or a kid) to join in on the fun !😊
Anyone can participate in this race! Parents, grandparents, siblings, etc can join in on the fun! You can build your own car from a kit (we have some available for $5), race an old car you’ve made in the past, 3D print your car, or build it from scratch. (as long as the below listed guidelines are met).
Car Check-In/Registration: 11AM – 12noon
Pack Races Start: Approximately 3/3:30PM (After the Scout races are complete and awards are given out)
Location: Macungie Park Basement
At check-in, cars will be weighed and measured to ensure they meet the guidelines for racing. Time will be given to adjust to the guidelines if needed. Each car will be assigned a registration number at check-in. Once the car is checked in, no adjustments can be made. Cars must not be removed from the garage after check-in. Car registration numbers will be used for computer tracking of race results. Cars are completing for the fastest run. Cars must display registration numbers on the front. You can also come up with a name for your car that will be used during the races!
Outlaw Race rules:
Must fit in the vehicle box (7”L x 2 ¾” W x 3” H)
Must clear the track (3/8” H x 1 ¾” W)
Weight must be 7oz or less
All decorations must be securely attached and not prohibit the car from resting on the starting pin
Wheels can be sanded, upgraded, or changed out as long as the wheelbase stays the same (axels should be 4 ½” apart) and you must ensure the car has the necessary clearance on the track
No lubricating oil can be used, only graphite
Vehicles must be freewheeling. No motors, engines, or other forms of propulsion – gravity only!
All other official PWD in-race rules apply
